| Clássico dos Milhões | Flamengo and Vasco | Derby of the Millions |
| Clássico Vovô | Botafogo and Fluminense | Grandpa Derby |
| Clássico da Rivalidade | Botafogo and Flamengo | Rivalry Derby |
| Clássico da Amizade | Botafogo and Vasco | Friendship Derby |
| Clássico dos Gigantes | Fluminense and Vasco | Giants Derby |
The Clássico Vovô carries its name because it is the oldest derby in Brazil. Fluminense, founded in 1902, and Botafogo, founded in 1904 by students, first met in a friendly on 22 October 1905. The Fla-Flu is the derby a visitor is most likely to see at the Maracanã, because both clubs play their home games there.

How derby tickets are split
At a derby the stadium is divided between the two clubs. In the 2026 match information we checked, the visiting club received one sector of the Maracanã, Sul or Norte, for its own fans and sold it through its own channels. Sectors such as Leste and Oeste were sold as mixed areas open to both sets of supporters. The face registration differed: at one Flamengo home derby, visiting fans registered on Flamengo’s biometrics site, while at one Fluminense home derby the visitors used their own club’s registration. The agency’s instructions tell you which one applies.
Derbies are among the games in highest demand, and the clubs give their members the first turn before the public sale (Lance, October 2024). For a visitor that means: decide early, and expect an agency to need your details well before the game.

Which part of the stadium to pick
Mixed sectors are open to the fans of both clubs, so a neutral visitor does not stand out there. The sectors each club sells to its own supporters are another matter. If you book a match visit for a derby, the agency chooses the sector; ask which one before you book if that matters to you, and leave club colours at the hotel unless you know which side you are on.
