How a visitor gets through the gate
Article 148 of Brazil’s General Sports Law (Lei 14.597/2023) obliges every arena with more than 20,000 places to identify fans biometrically, the Maracanã included; the Rio clubs do this by facial recognition. The clubs only sell through their own portals, and buying there means registering first:
- Create an account on the club’s ticket portal and upload your face for the biometric check.
- Enter a photo ID, and in some cases a CPF, the Brazilian taxpayer number that visitors normally do not have.
- Buy the ticket in your name. At the gate a camera checks your face against it; carry the same ID.
The agencies compared here take over that registration and buy the ticket for you. They need your details in advance, and how far in advance differs, so read the product page right after booking. Insider Adventures sends its instructions three to seven days before the match, Tour da bola gets in touch the day before; send what the agency asks for on time.
When the match moves
The CBF and the TV broadcasters set the final date and kick-off time, and Brazilian games are moved regularly. Booking a match visit therefore means booking a provisional date. The rules in the listings:
| Offer | If the match is moved | Free cancellation |
| Insider Adventures, ticket and private van | Full refund | 24 h before |
| Tour da bola, ticket, guide and private van | Full refund | 24 h before |
| Gray Line Brazil, ticket and bus | New booking or full refund | 4 days before |
| The other match visits on this page | See the product page | Mostly 24 h before |
Seats, bags and the way home
Packages usually come with a ticket for a sector, not a numbered seat, and the group stays together inside it. Everyone agrees to a security search at the gate, flares and fireworks are banned by law, and at Fluminense games food and drinks stay outside, so travel light. After the final whistle the whole stadium empties at once; if your transfer matters for the return trip, check that the listing covers the way back as well as the way there.
Best weeks for a game
As of October 2026, the Brasileirão Série A runs until 2 December 2026, the Campeonato Carioca usually starts in January, as it did in 2026, and the domestic game pauses from 24 June to 25 July 2027 for the Women’s World Cup, whose opening match and final are played at the Maracanã. December and early January are the quietest weeks. We do not list individual fixtures, because they are confirmed late and change often.
